Tooling

Some customers will approach us with a tool that is ready for forming. Others will come simply with a design or sketch and ask us to create one for them. We can work either way.

Once a design has been agreed with the client, a wooden mould is created. The customer can then add modifications or approve the design. The wooden mould is then created into a resin or aluminium tool. Every tool produced is kept in our storage facility for future / repeat use. The finished tool is now ready to be used in the forming process.

Applications
Within the production facility, a specific area is used for cutting, drilling machining, gluing, assembly and packing.

For fabrication a wide variety of in-house facilities are available such as;

• Routering
• Sanders
• Heat Bending
• Drilling
• Horizontal and Vertical Band Saws
• Lathes
• Guillotines
• Clicking Presses
• Circular Saws.

Metal Work

Commonly part of an overall POS display, LK-POS can provide custom made metal work to compliment or complete any project. All forms of metal work can be powder coated in a variety of colours if required.

Design Process

LK-POS offer a service from conception to production. From the initial client brief, right through to presenting the finished product. The process ensures the client’s expectations are met and that a high quality product is produced.

We can work from a single product, basic sketch or CAD drawing. Alternatively, we can work with a client to design a solution that meets their needs. Once the client brief is agreed, a decision is made on which material best fits the purpose of the project.
A prototype is created in wood and samples supplied for approval, at this time the client can make modifications to the design if required. Once the prototype fits the requirements, a resin or aluminium tool is produced. Most are resin, however, for larger or repeat runs, aluminium can be used.
A machine is chosen to produce the product. For example, PVC blisters will be put on the automatic machine. It can produce large volume, multiple tool impression sheets in a short lead time. A member of our experienced operations team sets up the machine to form the product. They constantly check each blister/sheet for quality and to ensure all products produced are identical.
If necessary, the forming can be cut by guillotine, roller pressed or machine routed to specification. The product moves to the Finishing Department and Production Manager for a final quality inspection.

Packaging will be individual or bulk, as agreed with the client.
Lines Keogh’s terms are predominately Ex-works. However, carriage can be sourced if required.

Vacuum Forming

LK-POS have production machinery which ranges from prototype sampling, manual, semi automatic, through to fully automatic, high volume machines. Some of which cater for deep vertical walls by utilising a plug facility, which enables a more even material distribution therefore reduceing the risk of webbing and thin wall sections.

The resin or aluminium production tool is mounted into position. The material is heated to the required temperature by single or dual heaters, which slide over the plastic. Once the correct temperature is achieved, the drape table raises the tool impression into the pliable plastic. At which point the vacuums are applied, drawing the material around the resin shape. The forming is cooled by internal fans, then ejected from the machine.

Printing

LK-POS can offer screen print to any design, any colour and onto all materials for labels, signage, card graphics and plastics.

Materials

At LK-POS we have the facilities and expertise to form or fabricate a variety of materials. As standard, each material is of food grade quality. Recycled, U.V protected, anti-static or other materials can be used upon request. Any sample shade can be colour matched:

PVC: Thin, clear, crisp material, predominately used for production of blisters/ clam packs
ABS: More durable plastic, available in a variety of colours with high quality raised finishes.
HIPS: Very durable, useable material, clear or coloured. Ideal for point of sale displays.
Acrylic Cap ABS: Versatile material, U.V. stable with a very high gloss finish. Easily cleaned and excellent for Health, Beauty and Medical displays.
Acrylic: Using any translucent colour the material can be heat-bent and machined out to the shape required.
HIPS Conductive: This material is used for our transit trays which are ideal for transporting electrical components. Anti-static can be applied to prevent the collection of dust on displays.

HIPS Styrosun: U.V. stable and whether proof, great for outdoor use. A popular material for corporate signage.
HIPS Flock: Supplied in any colour, Flock is softer, more subtle and excellent for jewellery display units.
PETG: With a high chemical and impact resistance PETG is crystal clear and gives great visibility for machine guards or POS displays.
John & Rachel have over the years, built strong partnerships with local companies to facilitate the inclusion within a project of processes such as Metal fabrication and Printing as these are commonly part of an overall POS display.
